"העמידה על הסף, בין הזכרי לבין הנקבי, בין חיים לבין מוות, בין פוריות לבין חורבן, בין מלאות לבין היעדר ובין חחים בעולם דל מטה לבין השגת מעולם דל מעלה. העמידה זו היתה לב עבודתו של דן זקהיים. עבודותיו קייצן בהן תמיז את מתח הניגודים בין שני מצבים קוטביים, ולעולם בחרו בעמידה על הסף,כל סף, כמצב-ביניים מתמיד בזמן."
